Reflection of a New Mom

I am a stay at home mom and love every minute of it. My 2 month old has no choice but to find me amusing all day long. I have his undivided attention at all times and absolutely love it. He coos at me and sometimes even finds me funny and will give me a big smile. He is all mine until Dad comes home. I have never seen something more beautiful than the looks and smiles he gives his dad after not seeing him all day. If I am changing his diaper and Dad is in the room his eyes are stuck on him. Dad and baby spend lots of time together at the end of each day. Dad will walk him around the house and stop at every fan (because right now that is his entertainment) he just loves fans. Why do babies love fans so much? They don't even have to be on! Fan or no fan, my husband has ways of soothing the baby by rubbing his hair in such a way that I can never seem to get just right. It is so nice to see the bond that they have and to see what a great dad my husband has become.

I think most moms can admit that there is nothing cuter than their babies feet. Well, what happens when your beautiful baby has the case of stinky feet? When I was pregnant I thought about his adorable little baby feet and the day I would finally get to kiss them! Now that he is here I get to kiss those cute square little feet whenever I see them, but I was in for a surprise when I noticed he has stinky feet! Wow, I didn't know babies had stinky feet! Maybe it's because I always have him in socks so his feet don't get cold! He was 5 weeks old when I first noticed this and I just couldn’t believe my own nose so I asked my friends and family to confirm my smellings. To my surprise everyone confirmed I wasn't imagining it. My enhanced sense of smell wasn't lying to me. Although he has a very mild case of smelly feet I have come to accept his stinky foot syndrome and still kiss all over them but thought it to be funny that at 5 weeks old my baby has stinky feet. Fittingly, he wears his stinky onesie well and with pride. LOL

Chicken Kiev a Great Recipe Your Family will Love

Here is one of our family's favorite recipes, enjoy!

What you will need:
4 boneless chicken breasts cut into 1 1/2 inch strips
1/2 c. Parmesan Cheese
1 1/2 sticks of butter
1 c. breadcrumbs
1 tsp. garlic powder
4-5 scallions
1/4 c. chopped fresh parsley
1/2 c. white wine
1/2 tsp salt
1/4 tsp. pepper

Melt 1 stick of butter. Mix bread crumbs, Parmesan cheese, garlic powder, salt, pepper in a bowl. or in a Dip pieces of chicken in butter and roll in bread crumb mixture. Place in a greased baking pan or casserole dish. When done, if any remaining butter, pour over chicken. Bake at 350 degrees for about 20 minutes. Pull out of the oven. Pour 1/2 stick of melted butter, wine, scallions and parsley over top. Put back into the oven and cook for another 20-30 minutes until chicken is cooked completely.

Hello my name is Jessica. I am 32 years old and 7 weeks ago I finally got the dream job that I spent 9 months dreaming about. I am finally a M-O-M! So far I have made it through jaundice, formula troubles, projectile vomiting, constipation and now I find myself having to choose how to vaccinate my son. With autism being talked about more and more these days and the speculation of vaccinations possibly playing a part in it, I decided I owed it to my baby to do some research on my own. I have chosen to use an alternative vaccination schedule which will only allow him to receive 1 shot that contains aluminum at a time. Aluminum seems to be what some doctors are concerned about infants getting too much of at one given time. He will still receive all of the vaccinations that are recommended but will have them split up to where he will have to get them once a month instead of every few months. That part of it I do not like but I do feel that we are doing the best we can as parents on our part to hopefully prevent Autism. There has to be something we are doing different that wasn't done when I was growing up because it seems like autism is everywhere. Maybe I have it all wrong. Maybe it is in what we are eating now with all of the added hormones, but either way, with a healthy diet and the alternative vaccination schedule I can do my part in preventing this from happening to my son.

Fitness Wednesday: Workout Binder

This past week I learned a fantastic tip to help you stay in shape without getting bored. There are some really great magazines out there (like Fitness & Shape two of my personal favorites) and they always have some really great workouts in each issue. The workouts usually target certain areas to help you reach your fitness goals and tone those problem areas. I have stacks of these magazines and I found that it is very time consuming to search through each issue looking for that perfect workout for that particular area of concern. An acquaintance of mine who happens to do fitness competitions has a very useful idea that I found worthy of passing along. She keeps a large binder that she has divided up into sections like cardio, abs, butt & thighs, arms, chest and back etc. Every time she finds a great workout in a magazine she rips it out and puts it in the binder in it's correct category. It's a fantastic idea and really easy to do! She has tons of really great workouts that target every area of the body and each day she does a different one. It really helps you from getting bored but most of all it keeps your body from plateauing! When you change your workouts on a regular basis you see faster results. Joel Dewberry Fabrics Just In!!!

We are so excited to offer you some more great fabrics. We know it has been a while since we have added to our fabrics department but I am sure you won't mind when you see the new prints by Joel Dewberry. Joel Dewberry has quickly become a favorite of ours and you'll surely see why with these two great prints that when combined can make for a really funky new project. The first is Narrow Stripe in Blue. It's soothing to the eye and reminds me of the cool crisp ocean on a hot summer day! This stripe pattern combines baby blue, navy, seafoam green, pale yellow and aqua into a nicely placed stripe print. Pair it with a floral print like the one below, some tiny dots, big disco dots and you have your next quilt project. This is also a great print to accent your baby boy's nursery. How about a new bumper for the crib or maybe a new baby blanket combined with a soft minkee fabric? The options are endless. I highly suggest (if you are not afraid of trying something a little bit funkier) pairing this Narrow Stripe print with Joel Dewberry's Espree print. Fitness Wednesday: Great Places to Work Out & Resistance Bands

Today I was a chaperon on my son's school field trip to the Loggerhead Turtle Rehab located on the beach. It was a gorgeous day, no clouds in the sky (a bit windy) and the ocean was an amazing turquoise color. On our walk from the rehab center to the beach I noticed two women with a trainer on the beach! How cool and what a great way to save a few bucks, get your workout in and enjoy the beautiful scenery while inhaling that fresh ocean air! They were using some resistance bands and having their own little class right there on the beach .

Having a trainer can be expensive, but if you split it with a friend or two and go somewhere interesting like the beach or a quiet park you can get a great workout and have fun in the process. If you don't feel that you need a trainer just grab a friend and go! Resistance bands made specifically for exercising are a great alternative to bulky weights and are inexpensive, easy to take along and offer just the right amount of resistance to thoroughly work and tone your muscles with a lesser chance of injury. If you use them correctly you get an even better workout because you are getting resistance during the entire movement instead of just during part of the movement with free weights. They are available in different resistance levels, but you can also double up the band for more resistance. There are many ways to use them, you can stand on the band and do some bicep curls just as you would with free weights or machines. Another option is to wrap it around a pole or stick in the the door. You can do many more exercises with resistance bands than you can with machines. It all depends on where you position the bands. Use them on your ankle and do some lifts to tone your legs and butt! Resistance bands can also help to strengthen your core since there is tension throughout the entire move, you need to stabilize your body by tightening your abdominal muscles. Anytime you are exercising and notice you are off balance, check your abs, are they tightened? The options are endless and you will be really surprised with the results if you stick to it!

I love resistance bands because they are cheap (between $6-$12) and they are easy to take along with you when traveling. There are plenty of websites online that give great tips and routines for you to follow.

I lost my aunt in 2007 to heart disease. She was a special person to me not just because she was my aunt, but because she holds a special place in my heart. She took me on my first trip to Europe and taught me how to sew as a little girl. Every day that I sit at my sewing machine I am reminded of her. When my son came home from school the other day with a packet for Jump Rope for Heart, he was eager to get right to raising money. We talked about Aunt Joyce and about the importance of the American Heart Association and how keeping fit and healthy can help to prevent heart disease. He decided on a goal that he wanted to reach so I helped him set up his own personal web page to raise money. I am so proud of him and the interest he has in helping others! It is great that the schools do things like this to raise money for a good cause, but also to teach kids about charity and the importance of medical research and keeping healthy for life! Fitness Wednesday: Excercise Videos

I am hearing a lot about this new workout video called the P90X and I am considering trying it out. It's claims to transform your body in only 90 days. Apparently it works by using "muscle confusion" constantly adding new moves to trick your muscles and thus avoiding the "plateau effect". It also introduces new routines to keep you and your muscles from getting bored. It is a combination of weight training, resistance, yoga & cardio using resistance bands. It also offers nutritional meals and advice on using supplements. At $120 with a 90 day money back guarantee, it doesn't sound so bad, that is if you are really motivated to do it. All you need is some resistance bands and a place where you can do pull ups and a mindset of success. Anyone try this? I will let you know if I decide to give it a whirl. Healthy Tip Wednesday

It's 2009 and since most of us have some sort of resolution to get healthier, get in better shape, eat better or just be more active, I have decided to add a health and fitness tip each week. As a competitive gymnast for most of my childhood and teen years, I am no stranger to the gym. Working out has been a huge part of my life since the age of 5. I am lost without it and when I do skip my workouts I can feel it both mentally and physically. Working out just 30 minutes a day can improve your mental health more than you can imagine. It also improves your energy level. I find myself so sluggish on the days I miss my workouts which is a great reason to not miss my workouts, but if you are just starting out your main goal is getting to the gym or getting the motivation to do something active. Here are a few suggestions.

Find a workout buddy (friend, neighbor, hubby, kids)
Decide where you are going to exercise whether at a fitness facility or at your home. Vigorous walking & biking with a buddy or neighbor can make your workouts at home seem like you are not working out at all!
Change it up so you don't get bored
Make a schedule and stick to it
Start slow, you don't want to injure yourself
Don't forget to warm up and cool down
Have fun, it's your time! Enjoy it!

Remember when you were a child and you used to lie on your back in the grass and watch the clouds, trying to find pictures or familiar images in them? I was reminded of that this morning while driving the kids to school. I saw this cool set of clouds that appeared to me to be people holding hands in a line. I just had to take a picture of it. Do you see it?

Next time your kids say they are bored, take them outside and look up at the clouds, see what you can find. It will change their mood, yours and give you a great opportunity to spend some quality time together being creative.

Handmade Baby Poof

KJ my stepson, came to me with a drawing of Baby Poof and asked me to make him out of fabric. It came out pretty cute and we had a lot of fun making him. We took a plate and traced it onto two pieces of natural hemp fleece. We then cut out 2 half circles from some purple fabric. We sewed the purple fabric to the hemp fleece, made some arms and legs and embroidered a cute little nose and mouth. We then made some eyes, sewed them on and stitched up the front to the back and stuffed him. It only took us about 30 minutes. I hope you enjoy watching the video! If

Superhero Capes

My favorite customer and friend, Ale wanted me to make her son Maxx and daughter Alexa some cool superhero capes. It is going to be their Christmas gift to one another. It was a really cute idea, especially since Maxx really is a superhero. After all, he did save his little sister from running out the door and down the street by herself! That definitely make him a hero, and I think a hero deserves a special cape. So, that was my project for the day. I think they came out pretty cute. What do you think? Feel free to comment. Quality Time with my kids

I am an avid reader. I love to read and I know how important reading is, especially to children. A great way to spend time with your kids is to read to them or with them. My boys are 8 and 14 now, but still love for me to read to them. Of course the books I read with them are different than when they were toddlers. Now they are at the age that I can read classics like Huckleberry Fin or Tom Sawyer. These books are amazing but not easy to get your child into unless that is, you read it to them. We've already read those two so now we are reading another great book by Kate DiCamillo called The Miraculous Journey of Edward Tulane. It is about Edward, a china rabbit who is very self absorbed and his owner a sweet girl by the name of Abilene. Abilene loves Edward but Edward has a lot to learn about love. We are only on chapter 9, we read a few chapters a night. It is a great way to wind down after a busy day. It's a really great way to transform the events of the day to a more calming and soothing time for you and your children. It's especially nice for us this time of year when we cuddle up in our big arm chair by the Christmas tree and read. Try it, it will be a lasting memory for both you and your child, guaranteed.

I might be crazy but I don't care

Last weekend we attended a holiday charity event benefiting the Boys and Girls Club of Palm Beach. It was a great night full of great food, drink, dancing & holiday cheer to raise money for a very good cause. Upon walking in, we saw him. The cutest little tiny baby beagle puppy in the arms of a young girl volunteering for the event. Obviously this little pup was there for the live auction and when we laid eyes upon his cuteness we instantly fell in love. Mind you, we already have two dogs and no desire to add a third but when that auctioneer started babbling his auctioneer chatter, something happened to my arm and it lifted high in the air! My husband looked at me and I said "Is this ok?" "It sure is" was his reply. We were in love with that little beagle the two of us silly dog lovers. After a few battles back and forth for the cutest auction item of the night, we found ourselves the lucky new owners of this beagle that we now call "Tebow". We could not bring him home that night as he was only 5 weeks old and needed some more time with his mommy and brothers and sisters. We did get to visit him yesterday though, to play with him, introduce our kids to him and let him know how we are anxiously awaiting his homecoming. It would have made a great surprise Christmas present for my boys, but I just couldn't possibly keep such a precious little secret like that from them. We pick him up on Sunday the 21st of December and I think he will bring some added joy to our home. I can't wait.... Isn't he cute?

I have converted

I’ve converted! I am now a Mac thanks to my wonderful husband who surprised me yesterday with an early Christmas present. I am officially no longer a PC (not really officially just yet because I need to figure out how to use it for it to be “official”). My sneaky husband snuck out to my car before I left the office yesterday and hid it under my sweater on my passenger side seat! I found it mid drive while still in my paranoia state from the traumatic incident last week. I decided I was afraid driving around downtown with my purse visible on my passengers seat so when I grabbed my sweater to cover the purse there it was a cute and very slender MacBook complete with all the programs I need to do all the things I do! This is also my first laptop as I have been using my hubby’s whenever I needed to be mobile. Now I will be able to get much more work done once I figure this thing out. It is much different than a pc and I am quickly getting frustrated to say the least. I want to instantly be able to do everything I want to do and I feel lost at this point. I just may have to take up Amy or Andie’s offer to give me a tutorial. Anyone switch to a Mac and have any advice? I would love to hear your suggestions on where to start. So far I have my email all set up and my phone and contacts all synched in but that’s about it.

I also can’t wait to tell you about a very cool project and I am going to teach you how to do it. You will have to check back to find out but here is a hint….it involves a little bit of sewing and a pair of scissors but is very easy to do.

Thanks to my incident last week with the attempted mugging, it turns out I have some pretty bad injuries. It is amazing how your adrenaline can fool you and you don't feel the pain until later. I have an appointment with the Orthopedic for Friday to check out my neck, back and shoulder. I am pretty sure I tore something in my right shoulder and with all the poping and cracking I am hearing, I need it checked out. As far as the neck and back go I have never had so much pain. A warning to all women

I had an experience yesterday that I feel is extremely important to share. I come from a family of police officers, my dad, my brother, my brother-in-law and even my husband was a police officer before becoming an attorney. I am well schooled on protecting myself and being aware of my surroundings. I grew up with it! Yesterday these things didn’t matter. I was walking to my car after grocery shopping at 2pm.in the broad daylight with people all around. I was pushing my shopping cart carrying my purse on my shoulder tight with one arm on the cart and the other on my purse. I was just about to get to my car when I felt something hitting my leg. It all happened so fast I was not sure what was happening but I did know that a car was hitting me. Within a flash I found myself being dragged by the driver of this car. As he drove by he had reached his arm out the window and grabbed hold of my arm and my purse. I was being mugged while being dragged across the parking lot! Next thing I knew I was facedown on the pavement, shopping cart upside down and groceries scattered all over me. I tried to look up and get a license plate or anything to describe the car but he was gone. It happened so fast I didn’t have time to do anything! Somehow I held that purse because it was still on my arm when I hit the ground. I wasn’t trying to keep my bag I didn’t know what was happening. I thought I was being hit by a car!

Luckily a nice man sitting in his car saw the man drive off and was able to help me give a description of the car and the driver. Another man called 911 for me and a very kind lady put all of my groceries (what was left of them anyway) back in my car. I am so thankful that all I ended up with was some nasty roadrash and two very swollen very black and blue beat up knees. I am also thankful that my children were not with me and I am thankful and know that God was watching over me. Maybe if it hadn’t happened to me it would have happened to an elderly woman who wouldn’t have had the strength to get back up or worse. Thankfully I was able to handle the fall and make out alright.

This world is a scary place and getting worse every day. The economy is very bad and we are all feeling the pinch. Unfortunately some people choose to victimize others. With things the way they are and the holiday shopping season here we need to be extra careful! Thieves and thugs are out there and waiting to prey on anyone, anytime, anywhere.

Things I learned yesterday:

NEVER walk with your purse on the side where a car can drive by and grab it
Try to have someone with you when you go shopping (If I had let the bagger at Publix take the cart out for me this probably wouldn’t have happened)
Thank God for his protection each and every day

Things I plan to do to further protect myself:

Take photocopies of all my credit cards so that if I do get my purse stolen I can quickly call and report them all
Carry cash, credit card and driver’s licence in a pocket (don’t even carry a purse) so to not have anything visible to entice a thief
Do most of my Christmas Shopping online: I am too freaked out to shop in person right now and it does make things much easier.

Saving Money: Keep those fruits and veggies fresh

I love fresh vegetables and fruit. We have a great produce market nearby with really low prices on locally grown fruit and veggies. When they opened I realized how much money I would save if I purchased all of our fruits and veggies at the market instead of our usual large chain grocery store. Unfortunately alot of those veggies went to waste if we didn't eat them fast enough, so the whole idea of saving money was well, just a good idea. Until my mother-in-law introduced me to Debbie Meyers Green Bags.

They really work and I love that I can buy all my veggies for the week and know that if we don't cook them right away we can have them the next week.

How they work

The bags absorb the ethelyne gas that is released by the food, which prevents the gas from staying in the fruit, and thus helping your food stay fresher longer.

How to use them

Produce should be DRY before placing in bag. Simply place fresh produce in bags and wash/rinse produce as usual before use. If storing washed produce, be sure to dry thoroughly before inserting in bag. Use one bag for each type of produce. For instance, use a bag for apples, another one for lettuce, another one for pears, etc. Fold over the top of the bag---do not use twist-ties as they make holes.

You can even use them for fresh cut flowers by placing the arrangement in a bag or by placing the bag over the top of the flowers while in a vase.

The A.B. Baby Boutique is looking for your stories about being a parent for a new resource section of our website. We know that parenting can be both rewarding and challenging and therefore, we are creating a place where moms alike can share and read about these times in a way to help and encourage one another during this journey we call parenthood. We are looking for all types of stories from the most challenging and trying times to the silly and lighthearted. We will be launching this new section in the coming weeks and will be offering giveaways and rewards for your stories.

Here is how you can share your story

Simply Email your story to Kristen@abbabyboutique.com. If you wish to remain anonymous, please note that at the top of your email. We are looking for real life stories, by real Moms and Dads that you are willing to share on our website. By sending your story you will be entered into the weekly or monthly drawing. We will welcome as many stories as you wish to share. Each story will be given a number (in order of entry received) and this number will be placed in a hat to be drawn at random. Each week or month (depending on the prize) a new group of prizes will be presented for the winner to choose from.

"I'm Bored!!! I'm Bored!!!" Is that what you are hearing right about now? I am sure you are! Summer is nearing the end and there is only so much you can do with the kids to keep them occupied! It is inevitable that there are days that you will just have to stay home!

When the kids are begining to get bored and you have run out of activities

to do you can always do a cooking project together. Today Brennan and I

decided to make a pizza using the "Kids Pizza Making Kit". It is really simple and it comes with everything you need to make a pizza like the dough mix, rising yeast, pizza sauce, a pan, a wooden spoon for mixing, a wooden rolling pin, ryhming recipe and re-usable plastic bag with handles. Be prepared to add a few ingredients like cheese and topings though as the kit does not include those items. We opted to use our own tomato sauce instead of the packaged one included in the kit. For toppings we used swiss cheese, feta cheese and parmesan cheese and topped it off with onions! Yes, I know my son has unusual tastebuds for a 7 year old he loves to eat onions raw! EEK. But you can put whatever yummy topings your tummy desires! It is a super easy cooking project that will occupy your little ones for a nice amount of time and best of all they get to eat it when they are done.

We suggest starting this cooking project around 10am as the dough needs time to rise (45 min) and then an additional 15 min (once in the pan) plus cooking time. We figure that if you start then, your pizza will be ready in time for lunch!

Elimination Communication

A dear friend of mine is expecting her baby girl possibly sometime next week. She called me to ask for some help in designing some underwear in newborn size. I potty trained both my boys at an early age (but not this early) by using regular underwear with them instead of the pull-ups. She plans to try to teach potty training from the day of birth and does not wish to use diapers at all if she can master this technique. This is very new to me and I believe it is called Elimination Communication??? She informed me that for a window of time in early infancy a baby can learn to control their bowels by alerting the parent of discomfort. She fears that with diapers and the way they are made today with the ultra absorbancy and all this makes learning to potty train more difficult because the child does not realize they have the discomfort at the initial time the diaper is soiled and thus has a harder time associating the discomfort with the actual soiling. After all they know how to let us know that they are uncomfortable by crying or fussing.

I think it takes a really disciplined parent to attempt this. I wish I could say that I would try it but in all honesty, I think I would quit or lose my mind trying! I would love to hear success stories or stories of unsuccessfulness, opinions and comments. I find this a very interesting topic and would love for comments!

The Big Belly Bib was created by Suzy Prenovost after finding a real need to protect her clothing during her third trimester. Just Like Daddy

Boys are cute. They are all about cars and things with wheels, gears and parts! They are little mechanical beings. I have two of them, so I know all about it! I am always finding things that have been taken apart, pieces that I can't for the life of me find out where they came from. They like to know how things work, why they do what they do. Last year at the Thanksgiving day Parade, my little guy was sitting on the grass watching the parade go by and then he noticed something. "Look Mom! Look at the way that axle is spinning under that truck!" "That is so cool, that is what makes the wheels turn right?" You would think that he would be excited about the giant Turkey or Mr. and Mrs Claus. Nope it was the axle under the car that he was most excited about. Instead of watching the parade he was watching the underbellies of the vehicles! Gotta love those boys.

While I am on the subject of frogs, snails and puppy dog tails, as the rhyme goes, I might as well introduce a new product just for boys! I realize that at the A.B. Baby Boutique, I have a habit of stocking girly things (due to the lack of having girls I had to get that out of my system) I am going to make an extra effort to start stocking more boy items. What is the new product?

My first boxers! Boys like to be just like Daddy, they want to shave like Daddy, gargle mouthwash like Daddy, and wear big boy boxers like Daddy! Isn't it amazing how kids (and adults too) can memorize the words to hundreds of songs but when it comes to learning Math we can barely remember our times tables! When we learned the alphabet, we learned it by singing along to a tune why not do the same to learn our times tables! Now you can says Ms. Robinson who is a certified math teacher who holds a master's degree in Innovative Teachings in Mathematics. As a teacher in the classroom, she has created innovative techniques in order to help her students achieve a better understanding of math concepts. During her first half hour of class, Ms. Robinson will give her lecture, but during the second half hour of class, she would play music for her students while they completed their classroom assignments. This will keep the students quite and seated throughout the rest of the class hour.
Everyone loves hip hop, and some say hip hop is dead. Actually, it was asleep, and Ms. Robinson woke it up with her new CD HipHop Tables.

My Choice to be a Stay at Home Mom by Denise Vetter

The decision to stay at home is harder for some than others. There are so many reasons why we should or why should not stay at home. For me it was a matter of the heart. I had tried to have children for ten years. Then finally I was blessed with a beautiful baby girl. Three years later a beautiful baby boy. Two years later, to my surprise another beautiful baby girl . Pretty good for someone who thought she would never have any children.

My husband was a Police Officer when the children were babies. His job entailed different tours of duty. So there were times when our days were nights and our nights were days. Special details would take him away for a few days and I would take on the job of a single mom. Throughout the years I questioned my decision to stay at home Usually this would come over me when money was tight. But I always felt my family came first. Days when there was not enough time, not enough energy and not enough money, would make anyone wonder why they made such a choice.

We are all faced with these things.

There was one thing I knew I had plenty of and that was LOVE. That kiss goodnight - that smell of powder so soft and sweet. I can still see those tiny hands and tiny feet. For they are my precious stars that still shine so bright in my heart. They are life's true miracles...

Note: It was in 1976 when I made the decision to be a stay at home mom. When women's lib was at its peak. Most of my friends juggled both worlds. Some had to - others wanted to. Me, I'm forever grateful. I heard my little one's first words (even though they all said DADA first) and I held out my arms while they made their first steps. Yes, I was fortunate to be with them in all their ups and all their downs. Of course none of this has anything to do with being a good mom. It is just a benefit that we choose to make. One that we will always remember and know one can take away. Before I forget, I have two new shinning stars glowing brightly in my heart. Andy and Brennan my grandsons. I do believe moms and grand moms have endless love...

Grandparents Day! Yes it is a day!

Sunday September 9 is Grandparents day. Did you know that? Either did I until last weekend while in a kids favorite stuff a bear store (you know the one). There was a sign that said Sunday Sept. 9 is grandparents day! So research a bit I did and yes believe it or not it really does exist. A woman by the name of Marian McQuade came up with the idea to set aside a day for grandparents so that it would encourage families to visit the elderly. In 1978 this idea reached the White House and there you have it, National Grandparents Day!

This Sunday, take your kids to visit Grandpa & Grandma or Nana & Papa or Me Ma and Pop Pop. Whatever they call them, give them a special gift! Some time with their grandchildren! If you can't take them there than give them a call! It will make them smile for sure!
